Personally, when crop tops started making its mark back on the trend list (as we say here at Yanni D fashion is a 360 movement it always comes back full circle), I have to admit it made me nervous. I knew this was a piece I would like and could have fun with, but being a few pounds heavier at the time kind of stunted my enthusiasm. However, I learned the art of rocking a crop top and it definitely changed my outlook. It is easy for me to relate to other gals that feel self conscious about this, but it is important to know that proportion, basically overall fit, is the key to wearing anything you want.
For me, wearing a crop top exposing this much stomach like the beautiful Rihanna did here was intimidating.
I knew I wanted to rock it in a way that I was comfortable with so I started out slowly. I wore a crop top look for a wedding I went to at the beginning of the year.
I knew for the wedding I wanted to try wearing it my way and I think it turned out pretty well. However, I wanted to continue to experiment with them to figure out the best way I could make them work for me. As I said, at first they can seem intimidating especially when you feel the exposure level is too much, but there are different variations of crop tops and a numerous amount of ways to wear them. Since the wedding at the beginning of the year, I’ve been on a workout kick simply because it was time to get healthy and right with the summer approaching. A few pounds lighter, feeling and looking great I still feel more comfortable wearing a crop top that shows less skin than more skin. Today, it’s easy to wear a crop top so many different ways without that intimidation factor and I wanted to showcase that.
Whenever I am looking for inspiration, Pinterest is always a first stop for me. Thanks to Pinterest and fashionistas who post their looks everyday I was able to pull together some crop top inspiration to hopefully help you overcome that challenge.
A longer more conservative crop top paired with a structured bottom such as a pencil skirt or trousers is a chic work look. You can also switch it up and wear a skater skirt for a bit more volume or jeans for a casual friday look.
This shorter box silhouette crop top provides slightly more edge especially when paired with a lose bottom of your choosing. It’s long enough to provide comfort, but short enough to show a tad bit of skin.
I love this look because this is something I would do. This crop top is looser and again provides a little bit of skin paired with a leather textured skater skirt. The proportions are perfect which makes for a great fit.
This is a perfect spring/summer look with a pleated maxi skirt. The lace crop top provides an extreme amount of coverage with sexy chicness.
Adding a third layer with a crop top is always a great option as we see here…

And here.
This is a perfect example of wearing two fitted pieces and barely showing any stomach. This fashionista looks sexy, bold and pulled together with her sweetheart bandeau crop top.
This lace corset crop silhouette is another pulled together look that does not expose too much.
Last, but not least
If your comfort level is high, expose all the skin you want in the best way possible. Super cute and simple look. This fashionista is working it.
As I said, there are a variety of ways and lengths to rock a crop top you just have to find the best fit for you. How will you wear yours?
