Swanky and modern are the words I would use to describe the Collection by Michael Strahan for JCPenny. I had the opportunity to attend a fabulous launch event for the collection and it was indeed an event to attend.
The collection, an assortment of tailored suit separates, sport coats, dress shirts, neckwear, belts and accessories, were displayed on statuesque models throughout the event. The entire Art Beam event space was turned into a men’s shop to display Strahan’s collection. A select few items such as suspenders and ties were framed and hung around the space. There was even a tie corner with an array of dapper ties to awe at. Collectively the colors and styling really stood out to me. Each piece on display looked clean cut and modern.
Attendees had the luxury of sipping on cocktails and indulging in tasty eats. Acclaimed bartender Jeff Bell of PDT created the drinks courtesy of Johnny Walker Black Label and Marcus Samuelsson’s of Red Rooster curated the food.
Tunes were played by Joe Jonas who DJ’d the event and celebrities such as Usher, 50 Cent, Joseph Sikora, Dascha Polanco, Taye Diggs, Nina Garcia, Melissa Joan Hart and Hilaria Baldwin came through to support.
It was clear that everyone was impressed with the display before them. Not only was the presentation impeccable, but the pieces are very affordable ranging from $380 for suit separates to suspenders for $28 at regular price ($189 to $15 for sale prices respectively).
I was so impressed with the collection myself that I recommended it to a friend of mine. I think that Mr. Strahan did his due diligence by making sure the collection reflected his individual fashionable style while still giving an air of affordable quality men can relate to.
Of course the night would not be complete without a quick photo opp with the lovely Dascha Polanco and a selfie.
