On Saturday night I hung out in the Meatpacking District (New York City) for a dear friend’s birthday celebration. I was going for a sultry and chic look for the night which included me continuing to experiment with my natural hair. For those of you who do not know, I’ve been natural going on three years now, but I’ve worn a lot of protective styles during that time. I seriously give the hair industry thousands of dollars smh. However, I decided at the beginning of the month it was time to start wearing my natural hair outside of a protective style such as weaves, Marley twists, etc. I really needed to adjust to the natural hair process and figure out what works for me. I have to say it has been a JOURNEY and I am only a month in. However, everything is trial and error so I am just testing the waters and figuring it out.
Let me digress! So I wore my hair differently for the night and went for a lady in black theme with some pops of color.
Browsing the stores the other day I found this pretty mustard/gold kimono and I made it my focus for the night. I wanted the kimono to be a stand out piece so I opted for an all black mesh pencil skirt, black strapless longline bra and a black gold plated belt.
I added gold accessories and a pop of red (two different shades) with my strappy sandals and lipstick.
(Excuse the weird thing my eyes are doing. Love this shot regardless)
