Most of you may not know this, or maybe you do, but I have a soft spot for window displays. I know I know…random, but it’s true. I love standing outside Macy’s Herald Square and Saks Fifth Avenue to witness there seasonal change outs featuring some of the most amazing brands. I also love walking down Madison Ave and witnessing art on every block.
Intermix is one store that truly gives me fashion life when I see their displays. This is why I was elated to find out that the Rizzoli New York Flagship Bookstore is paying homage this month to iconic fashion house, Marimekko.
The Rizzoli New York Flagship is a beautiful space on Broadway in the heart of New York City which I’ve had the pleasure of visiting a few times (check here for my last visit). The beautiful and vibrant display tells the story of how the fashion house got its start with a single dress over 65 years ago.
It features four dresses from their spring/summer 2016 collection that are simplistic yet bold with electric patterns and hues. The idea behind the installation is to celebrate the past and present history of the brand. The featured dresses (available this spring for purchase) are designed by new Marimekko Creative Director Anna Teurnell and to compliment these dress designs the installation also features additional fashion and home accessories.
To coordinate with the display, Rizzoli will also offer in-store two must have books for any design lover that would like to look into the history of the iconic brand – Marimekko: In Patterns and Marimekko – Fabrics, Fashion, Architecture.
The Marimekko Window Installation is on display from February 8 – February 22, 2016. If you have yet to do so, head down to Rizzoli New York Flagship: 1133 Broadway at 26th St. (Across Madison Square Park) and check it out.
