I am just going to label the month of April collaboration month. We have had numerous collaborations and all of them are noteworthy. Kate Spade and Jack Spade are venturing into childrenswear, a first for both brands, which is a darling idea. These days kids are bigger fashionistas than the adults it seem. The spades will collaborate with Gap kids and the line is set to launch in November. Since the launch is so far away there have not been any sneak peaks of the colorful and trendy pieces to come, but I cannot wait for future updates. I can already envision a miniature Kate Spade fashionista.

Change is the only thing constant and slowly, but surely what used to be the norm of New York Fashion week is changing. The iconic week in New York changed venues a few years ago after being at Bryant Park FOREVER. Now its at Lincoln Center and supposedly not for long. What once used to be a show for editors, socialites and celebrities has evolved into a show where all kinds of people and industries can attend provided they know how to get in. It’s been customary for shows to take place at the venue established for fashion week, but lately designers have branched out and presented shows at different locations around New York City.

Last season, Alexander Wang took his show to the Brooklyn Navy Yard and it seems Dior will follow to present the brand’s pre-spring 2015 collection. As you can imagine,  the fashion connoisseurs of Manhattan are frowning about this, but I think this is a great move for Dior. Stepping out of their comfort zone and trying something different could present an even greater show in a better space. Don’t get me wrong, Dior will always be on a fabulous pedestal (it’s one of my favorite brands), but as I said change is constant. Either way VIP attendees cannot frown too much, Dior will accommodate transportation to and from the island. I personally, love attending fashion week shows outside Lincoln Center. There is more liberty to be creative and really present a fantastic story with their presentation.

Who will venture to Brooklyn? That is the million dollar question.
