Hats are my thing! So are shoes, jewelry and just about anything that can enhance a look, but I really do adore hats. I actually own quite a lot and I have more black ones than anything as you see here, here and here. However, I realized on Wednesday that I do not own a black fedora. Strange I know, but since I do not own one I felt inspired to add one to my collection.
I took a trip to my nearest Forever21 to see what I could find (partly because it is down the block from my job and partly because I knew that I would be able to find an affordable option). I ended up getting this beauty below and it really was the focus for my latest outfit of the day.
I attended a launch party last night with my ladies first team for the site. For those of you who do not know I am a fashion content producer for WeLoveLadiesFirst, a lifestyle site for women by women. If you have yet to check it out that should be your next step after you leave here.
Moving along, courtesy of our founder Jen Le, we did a ladies first launch party with PLNYC and JAWS hosted by Jen, Stella and Samantha Chin at Elvis Guesthouse in the Lower East Side. I knew it would be a long day for me starting with the 9-5 grind and then the event after so I wanted a casual fall look that would stand out in a chic way, but still read transitional. I decided to bring out a sleeveless grey summer work dress that I got from H&M at the beginning of the year and make it work for fall.
Channeling my inner Serena van der Woodson and Blair Waldorf from the show Gossip Girl, I paired the dress with stockings. I adore stockings! I really do try to pair as many looks as I can with stockings. Most looks can read chic and clean with a pair of hosiery.
To complete the look I added my favorite sweater with faux leather sleeves, a belt, chunky heel booties (easier for me to walk in all day), a large brown tote, an assortment of gold jewelry and rings, and of course my latest hat crush. Since I was decked out in neutrals with black, grey and brown I wanted to add some color so I pulled out my Heroine lipstick to pull more purple from my hair.

The perfect work day chic, night time cool look. After all it was all about the details from the hat to the belt.
Thoughts on my work neutrals attire?
