Last Night the 2014 Video Music Awards took place in sunny Los Angeles. The ceremony has always been deemed light, fun and extra bold which includes the red carpet. However, last night I was completely underwhelmed. I contemplated if a post was even necessary, but there were a few looks that I liked and as a fashionista it is my duty to let you know which ones.
Before we jump into the looks we have to take a second to give acknowledgement to Queen Beyonce for not ONLY shutting down the VMAs, but for receiving MTV’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Her performance literally gave me life and the honor she was bestowed was well deserved.
Now for the red carpet…
Hands down, Queen Bey was IT for me on the carpet. This gown fit her like a glove. Flawless!
Chanel Iman received the same memo Beyonce did opting for black, but instead of a gown she kept her dress on the shorter side. Nice!
I really do have a special place in my heart for Demi Lovato. I like when she switches it up on us like she did last night matching the red carpet with her wrap dress. Sizzling!
Nina Dobrev also looked stunning in a red and black number. Hot!
Songstress Rita Ora always looks fabulous in red.
I love me some Gwen Stefani and I especially loved this pink and black colorblock pant combo she wore last night. Although, her signature red lipstick will always be my favorite on her I really liked the pink lip. She looked fabulous per her norm.
Kendall Jenner knows how to rock some pants. Cute!
Miley Cyrus looked adorable in this leather number. Super cute!
I live for anything Solange wears and this low key black menswear inspired suit looked great on her.
Iggy Azalea looked great in her platinum gown, but I would have liked to see something else done with her hair and makeup. Either way she’s a beauty.
Jordin Sparks looked appropriate and cute for the event in all white.

Even though this roundup pertains to looks I liked. I had to include these next two because I was utterly confused.
I am being so honest when I say this, but I hated this on Taylor Swift. It reminded me of a costume of some sort and something that should not be worn on the red carpet. I didn’t get it.
I live for Amber Rose, but when I saw this I could not help but to ask WTF? I get that the back of this is covered, she’s gorgeous and has an amazing shape. In theory this fits her in an amazing way, but again I say… I just don’t get it.
